The Portuguese star joins Saudi professional footballer Al Nassr in January 1, after which many mocked him, claiming that Ronaldo’s prime is over.
Although the 38-year-old may be at the end of his career, his first season was still quite good, scoring 14 goals in 19 matches in different leagues.
Cristiano Ronaldo came back stronger this summer, with 6 times conceding against the opposition to help Al Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Cup. On the verge of continuing to shoot, he scored a brilliant brace to help his team defeat rivals Al Ahli 4-3.
Ronaldo told reporters after Al Nassr’s victory: “They say Ronaldo is over and out of time, but that’s not the case. I want to prove my critics wrong. I will keep playing until my legs say: “Cristiano, I’m tired”.
I still have a lot to do in football. I never thought about stopping playing. I still love football and like to score as many goals as possible. There was always a passion in me to win. A lot of people say I’m out of time, but I’m still showing them that that’s not the case.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has started this season in excellent form, scoring 9 goals and 5 assists in 8 appearances. Ronaldo’s performances show that although he is past his peak, he still retains a high level of form that makes the Portuguese superstar one of the best players in football history.
Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to play for Al Nassr on September 25 in the Copa del Rey round of 9 match against Ohod. His team won their 32th consecutive tournament.
In the latest match against Al Ahli 4-3, it was Ronaldo who opened the scoring in the fourth minute, sending the ball into the lower right corner past the obstruction of Edouard Mendy. He had the perfect chance to score his second a few minutes later when a shot was in front of goal but only sent the ball to the post. Anderson Talisca scored in the 4th minute to make it 17-2. Franck Kessie shortened the gap for Al Ahli in the 0th minute before Talisca scored again to give Al Nassr a 30-3 lead at half-time.
Ronaldo completed his brace in the 52nd minute, just two minutes after Riyad Mahrez had taken a successful penalty. Feras Albrikan scored in the 87th minute but Al Nassr maintained a 4–3 victory. Cristiano Ronaldo had an excellent performance and was scored 9.1 points by the FotMob system. He has an 88% accurate passing rate, a 100% accurate long pass rate and two beautiful goals.
