Before making an official decision on punishment, the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Saudi Arabian National Championship wants Cristiano Ronaldo to explain his recent controversial actions.
Cristiano Ronaldo is at the center of controversy because of his offensive celebration in Al Nassr’s victory over Al Shabab on February 26. This causes him to be under investigation and at risk of punishment.
Currently, the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the Saudi Arabian National Championship has not yet made any decision about Ronaldo’s behavior. However, the investigation reportedly determined this to be the most serious offense.
Before making a final decision, the competent authority wants Cristiano Ronaldo to give an explanation for his actions. According to AS, the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Saudi Arabian National Championship required CR7 to speak directly about the incident.
Accordingly, Al Nassr’s superstar is expected to be summoned to a hearing to state the reasons for his actions. The Committee will collect testimony to evaluate one last time whether Ronaldo’s actions were obscene for fans of Al Nassr’s opponents.
If convicted of obscene behavior directed at fans as well as the opposing team, Ronaldo will be suspended for at least two matches, in addition to being financially fined. That will be a heavy blow for Al Nassr as they are trying to compete for the Saudi Pro League title with Al Hilal.
If Ronaldo is punished, he will miss the team’s matches against Al Hazem (March 1) and Al Raed (March 7) in the Saudi Pro League. During that time, CR7 can still play in the match against Al Ain in the AFC Champions League arena on March 4.
