The Japanese automaker expands its network with the second-generation luxury minivan.
It will be released in more than 60 countries, including Europe and Japan for the first time.
Great news for executives looking for a comfortable and luxurious experience, but don’t want the typical chauffeur-driven SUV or saloon.
That’s not good news if you’re in America, though, as there’s no sign of the luxury minivan coming to the US market any time soon.
Lexus LM: the lap of luxury
Unsurprisingly, no stone has been left unturned when it comes to luxury inside the new Lexus LM.
For starters, it has comfortable reclining airplane-style seats with pillow-top headrests.
There is also a 48-inch widescreen TV and a 23-speaker premium surround sound audio system.
Comfort and convenience are the order of the day, and passengers get folding tables, multiple USB ports, wireless phone chargers, reading lights, and vanity mirrors.
There’s even a fridge, rear glove compartments and an umbrella holder.
Oh, and an adjustable glass panel that can be raised or lowered for privacy.
There’s a smartphone-style control panel that can be used to adjust climate control, seat functions, interior lighting, window blinds, and audio settings.
There’s even an overhead console that controls the doors, storage bins, and cabin temperature.
Lexus says it has introduced a new voice control system especially for rear passengers, which it claims is a world first.
The new Lexus LM is available in four- and seven-seat configurations.
The new Lexus LM is based on Toyota’s GA-K platform currently used by the Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV4 and the new Lexus RX.
Powertrain specifications have yet to be revealed, however Lexus confirmed that the luxury MPV will be available in two hybrid configurations.
The three-row-only LM350h will combine a 2.5-liter non-turbo gasoline four-cylinder engine with electric motors.
The four-seat LM500h will be powered by the RX500h’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engines.
In the RX, these transmissions make 246 hp and 366 hp respectively.
