After a nasty tackle on him, Jude Bellingham got into a heated argument with Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez.
Bellingham seemed to have settled in well at Real Madrid, making a great debut against AC Milan and scoring his first goal for the Spanish giants a few days later against Manchester United.
Following his acquisition from Dortmund, the 20-year-old became Madrid’s second most expensive signing ever at £88 million. He wasted little time in starting his goal-scoring account, netting just five minutes into his second game for the club.
However, it was not only his goal that drew attention, but also a contentious episode involving Martinez.
Martinez vs Bellingham clash
Bellingham got a pass in midfield with his back to the goal during the game.
As Bellingham attempted to maneuver around Martinez and initiate an attack, the unyielding Argentine defender launched a violent and nasty challenge, knocking him down.
Martinez, known for his fiery playing style, appeared unapologetic about the tackle, which irritated the Englishman.
This resulted in a heated argument between the two players, followed by a brief scuffle until the referee interfered to separate them.
Bellingham sparks subtle Clasico war
Bellingham may have just stung the hornet’s nest with a veiled dig at El Clasico rivals Barcelona, according to Sports Brief.
Despite his youth, the Englishman has never shied away from making bold statements, and he made a veiled dig at Barcelona before of their highly anticipated pre-season match in the United States.
Bellingham scores first Madrid goal
Earlier, Sports Brief claimed that Jude Bellingham had finally scored for Real Madrid, opening his account during the club’s much anticipated pre-season encounter against Manchester United on July 27.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who had recently joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund, demonstrated his abilities only five minutes into the game when he broke the deadlock.
He controlled the ball with precision and completed a clever chip over the onrushing Andre Onana, who was making his Manchester United debut after joining from Inter Milan.
